Fullerton, CA (April 12, 2023) — One pedestrian and one motorcyclist were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Sunday morning that police suspect may have been caused by street racing. The collision happened at around 9:00 AM near the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Flower Avenue.

According to the Fullerton Police Department, witnesses claimed that the motorcyclist was racing an Audi sedan on their Yamaha R6. Based on the investigation, the driver of the Audi and the motorcyclist were traveling northbound on Magnolia at a high speed. They then struck a Toyota Sienna minivan going southbound that was attempting to make a turn onto Flower Avenue. The collision caused the 35-year-old motorcyclist to be ejected, and the Audi veered off of the road, striking a bicyclist and pedestrian on the sidewalk and eventually crashing into a telephone pole near a home. Residents had to be evacuated since the crash caused a gas leak.

The driver of the minivan and a 15-year-old boy were treated for minor injuries, while the driver of the Audi only reported back pain. It is not yet clear whether the motorcyclist and the 70-year-old pedestrian died at the scene or later at the hospital. So far, police don’t believe that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. Anyone with information regarding the collision is urged to contact the Fullerton Police Department.

Filing for Wrongful Death as a Surviving Family Member

When a family suddenly loses a loved one in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, they often have the option of filing a wrongful death claim. In California, a wrongful death claim allows family members of the deceased to pursue a variety of damages, such as:

  • Medical treatment costs before death,
  • Funeral and burial expenses,
  • Loss of consortium,
  • Loss of financial support, and
  • Mental anguish.

These are just a few examples of the damages that families may claim. Since every situation is unique, we recommend speaking to a knowledgeable California wrongful death attorney.
